If you want the full experience of a ’59 and are unfussed by a slightly larger neck and plainer top then the ’58 to all intents and purposes is a slightly less well appointed ’59.
Being the precursor to the ’59 the spec differentiation is almost negligible.
Whether you like a figured top or a plain top for the most part is largely down to personal taste. We have had the pleasure of demoing this thing in full and can testify to the fact that it delivers that iconic Les Paul sound hand over fist.
